Poetry Friday (Random Acts of Poetry)….the work of His hand

the work of His hand
etched across the evening sky
in scarlet shape-shifting swirls
and crimson clouds
edged with gilded lace

the work of His hand
written on every leaf
from emerald to burnt umber
and every shade of fire in between
lit and glowing with the setting sun

the work of His hand
on every silken feather
shaped to flight’s exacting standards
painted with iridescent brilliance
infused with warmth and breath

the work of His hand
in arpeggios of children’s laughter
under the canopy of leaves
they watch a bird take flight
a small black outline against the painted sky
